Caramelized onion and apple chutney

This caramelized onion apple chutney has a perfectly balanced flavour between sweet, savory and sour. A rich sweet and savory sauce that goes perfectly with meat, fish and cheese.

Caramelized onion and apple chutney – delicious sweet and savory chutney for cheese platters.
Ingredients
- 500 g white onions
- 500 g apple
- 3 tbsp brown sugar
- 50 ml apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp curry
- 2 tbsp mustard
- 1 pinch cinnamon
- 0.5 tsp or more salt
Instructions
Instructions: Caramelized onion apple chutney
- Heat the oil. Add sliced onions and cook on low heat until they become caramelized and soft for about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Add sugar and apple cider vinegar and cook on medium heat for about 5 minutes.
- Then add lemon juice, mustard, cinnamon, curry, salt and chopped apple slices. Mix well and cook on medium – low heat until the apples start to dissolve, about 5 to 10 minutes.
- Once the chutney is ready cool it down completely.
