Have you ever heard about homemade baked kale chips? Those who follow various food enthusiasts web sites will know very well that often certain food trends appear and disappear. I’m talking here about gluten free meals, crispy bacon everywhere, rainbow food, chocolate balls that melt revealing a hidden dessert. You can like the end result or not, but at least it is worth tasting. One of these trends is called “kale ” – “black cabbage ” in Italian. A very tasty and healthy vegetable cooked in a thousand ways possible. Among these recipes I discovered one that intrigued me from the start the “kale chips”. Let’s be honest… they do not have the same flavor as potato chips but, surprisingly, are just as good (according to my taste buds). Baked in the oven these snacks are crispy and with a very unique and appealing flavor. A must try.

Instructions

Instructions baked kale chips

  • Wash the kale leaves and dry them thoroughly. Remove hard stems. Transfer to a bowl, pour about 2 tablespoons of olive oil over them and toss well until all the leaves are covered. Transfer the leaves onto a baking tray, leaving some room between individual leaves (use 2 trays if needed).
  • Bake in a preheated static oven at 150 ° – 160 °C for about 10 minutes. At this point, sprinkle with salt and freshly ground pepper and bake for another 5 minutes or until the chips are crispy. Be careful not to turn them brown or they will have a slightly bitter taste. Serve once cooled down or you can store them in a closed container for about 3 days.
