If you have found yourself in the situation where you had to create quick and delicious dessert or snack for a bunch of hungry kids, this simple chocolate cake is perfect for you. It is a very easy and quick cake. All you have to do is mix the dry ingredients with the liquid ones. It is quite light as it is a cake without butter but with vegetable oil. In addition, sparkling or effervescent water must be added to the mixture to make it soft and delicate.
It is a rather low cake, perfect for small hands. It is also covered with a layer of chocolate chips and pieces of milk, white, and dark chocolate. You can even use some pieces of leftover Easter chocolate eggs. If your little wolves are very hungry, just wait until the cake gets warm and serve it with vanilla ice cream. The melted chocolate pieces on top will stay soft for a long time creating a delicious and creamy topping.
Instructions simple and quick chocolate cake for kids
In a bowl, sift 200 g of all-purpose flour together with 4 tablespoons of dark cocoa powder and two teaspoons of baking powder.
Add 130 g of brown sugar and 30 g of white sugar and mix.
In the second bowl mix 150 ml of sparkling water with 100 ml of vegetable oil (I used various seed oil) and 2 eggs. Now combine the bowls and mix briefly with a kitchen whisk or a spoon.
Line the bottom of a 22cm round springform pan with baking paper. Lightly grease the edge with a some oil or butter and dust it with flour. Pour the prepared batter. Now cover the surface with several chocolate pieces and chocolate chips.
Bake in a preheated static oven at 200 °C for about 30 minutes. Cook until the toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
