Mango lassi is a traditional Indian smoothie that is made with few ingredients such as Greek yogurt, mango, sugar or honey and ice. Together they create a kind of yogurt milkshake. The addition of powdered cardamom gives a spicy touch that goes perfectly with the flavor of the mango. It is a drink that is drunk all year round but is more popular during the summer as it is refreshing and calming. Traditionally it should be combined with Indian spicy dishes as it soothes the sensation of spiciness. I enjoyed it as a sort of fruit and yogurt dessert and I must admit that its particular flavor won me over immediately. A must try.
Mango lassi – refreshing smoothie with yogurt
- 1 big very ripe mango
- 150 ml Greek yogurt
- 125 ml cold milk
- 2 tsp honey
- 4-5 ice cubes
- ½ tsp powdered cardamom
Instructions mango lassi
- Peel the mango and remove the seed. In a blender jug combine your fruit, Greek yogurt, half a glass of cold milk, 2 teaspoons of honey. Blend everything and then add 4-5 ice cubes and cardamom to taste. Since I love the cardamom flavor, I added half a teaspoon. Blend again until all the ingredients are well blended.
- Taste and adjust with more honey if necessary. If you prefer your smoothie more liquid add more cold milk. Serve immediately.

For aesthetic reasons I garnished the lassi with some powdered cardamom and pistachios.
Store in the refrigerator and eat within the day.
