  • 1 kg cleaned mussels
  • 15 g butter
  • 1 celery
  • 1 small onion
  • 125 ml beer I prefer amber or lager, but any beer will work

Instructions: Mussels with beer

  • Clean the mussels by removing the beard and fouling, discard mussels with broken shells and rinse well in cold water.
  • Clean and slice celery and cut onion into julienne (long thin strips). Cook the vegetables for a few moments in melted butter.
  • Add the mussels and cook with lid on for about 3 – 4 min, stirring occasionally. Pour the beer in, stir and continue cooking for another 4 – 5 minutes without the lid.
